The New Batman Adventures aired alternately in the same time slot with The New Superman Adventures. It was also known as Batman: Gotham Knights during production .

The New Batman Adventures featured Batman, Robin, Nightwing and Batgirl. The series was of a continuation of the critically acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series, the main difference being that all events taking place in the new series happened two years after the old.

Notable Differences From Batman: The Animated Series

  • Tim Drake has assumed the mantle of Robin.
  • Batgirl is now a full-time member of the team (and is now voiced by Tara Strong instead of Melissa Gilbert).
  • Dick Grayson is now Nightwing, only occasionally aiding the Dark Knight.
  • Almost all characters of the series have undergone changes in appearance, due to the streamlining of the DCAU (sometimes referred to as the "New Look" or revamp).
  • Bruce Wayne now speaks in roughly the same gruff tone as both himself and Batman. Before the revamp, Kevin Conroy used a more upbeat tone when speaking publicly as Bruce Wayne.
  • Most if not all televisions and displays in Gotham City are now in full color. The technology in general seems more advanced as well.

Trivia

  • There are only four episodes of the series that feature all four members of the Bat-Family (Old Wounds, Over The Edge, Sins of the Father and Chemistry).
  • The four members are never seen all together in costume at any one point in time, and only two episodes feature them all in costume at different times (Over The Edge and Old Wounds), though that is through a dream sequence in one and a flashback in the other so they didn't all technically appear in the story.
  • Poison Ivy no longer uses the miniature crossbow she frequently wore in Batman: The Animated Series.
