One of the most respected officers on the police force, Renee Montoya is one of Batman's links to the Gotham City Police Department. Much to her dismay, she is partnered with Harvey Bullock often. Fearless and tough minded, Montoya doesn't back down from anyone, whether it be a lowly street thug or a supervillain.

Montoya developed strong working relationships with Commissioner James Gordon and Harvey Bullock. She has been promoted from officer to detective.

Montoya first appeared as an uniformed officer partnered with Harvey Bullock. Her most notable appearance was in the episode P.O.V. in which Bullock, Montoya, and a rookie, Officer Wilkes (in this episode, Montoya's partner), each give their story to Internal Review following an ill fated sting operation. She is also featured in the episode in which she catches Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy after they get away from Batman (Harley and Ivy).

Montoya was also a recurring character in the third season of the web cartoon Gotham Girls.
