Pete owned his own restaurant.
History
One of Pete's favored customers was Rupert Thorne, who wanted a private meeting with Arnold Stromwell at the restaurant. When Thorne saw a drifter, who was actually Batman in disguise, snoozing on one of the tables, he asked Pete to send him out. Batman left a bug on the table to hear what Thorne's plan was. Pete continued to serve Thorne and his men until Stromwell arrived. After a seemingly casual meeting, Pete led Thorne to the exit, leaving Stromwell behind as Batman saved him right before the restaurant blew up.
