"I didn't fight my way through a battalion of Parademons to be told to calm down!"[3]

Orion was a New God and the biological son of Darkseid, but he was raised by Highfather, while Scott Free was raised by Darkseid as a part of a truce between Apokolips and New Genesis. He was also a member of the expanded Justice League after the Thanagarian invasion.

History[]

Orion unmasked

Orion unmasked.

Orion is the second son of Darkseid. As a child, he was traded for Scott Free in a peace effort between New Genesis and Apokolips. Raised as the son of Highfather, Orion was taught to control his rage and anger, becoming the most powerful warrior either world had ever known. This in itself was not an easy task, given that his heritage boiled with the rage of the brutal and merciless Darkseid. It is very possible learning how to control his dark nature consumed much of his youth.

When Darkseid set his sights on Earth, Orion came to Superman's aid in defending the planet. He also had offered his condolences after Superman's friend, Dan Turpin had fallen. Later, after the formation of the Justice League, Orion had joined forces with Superman once again; when his father, Darkseid had endangered New Genesis.

After the Thanagarian invasion, Orion became a member of the expanded Justice League. He was briefly seen in the battle against Amazo. He later played a more active role when Flash was beset by his old enemies and was last seen fighting alongside the rest of the League in the final battle against Darkseid's forces.

Powers and abilities[]

Fittingly enough for the son of Darkseid, Orion has superhuman strength, durability and stamina. However, based on his fight with Darkseid, he is neither as strong nor as durable as Superman or Darkseid, since the latter was able to incapacitate Orion by bear-hugging him into unconsciousness after a fairly short battle. He also has a phenomenal healing rate, mentioned during his first visit to Earth.

Equipment[]

Orion has a Mother Box, giving him the ability to travel between worlds like New Genesis and Earth. He is armed with various New Genesis weapons.
