A skilled archer, Merlyn was a member of the Secret Society.
History
Merlyn was a supervillain whoes archery skills rivaled that of Green Arrow. He used an assortment of trick arrows much like that of his Justice League counterpart. Merlyn became a member of Grodd's Legion of Doom. At meetings, Merlyn was given a seat inbetween fellow villains, Lady Lunar and the Shark. Later on, Lex Luthor took control of the Legion as the new leader. While members such as Bizarro, Evil Star, and Volcana believed in Luthor's leadership, Merlyn, among others, showed little faith. When Grodd, freed from inprisinment by the sorceress Tala, returned to oppose Lex, Merlyn sided with Grodd against Luthor. Grodd and Tala attempted to kill Luthor, in the Legion headquarters, which Luthor had formatted to transform into spaceship. However, other Legionares, came to Luthor's aid. Merlyn, Bloodsport, The Key, and other villains fought in the Legion headquarters against Luthor and his sympathizers. Eventually, Luthor manged to use, Grodd's mind-control powers against him, ending the mutiny. During, the battle, Merlyn, was possibly killed in combat, but no body was ever recovered, so his final fate remains a mystery.
Background Information
The depicted subject bears the likeness of Merlyn from the DC Comics; however, the DCAU character was never named on-screen, or otherwise. The title of this article is conjecture based on the character's likeness. Merlyn was conceived by Dick Dillin and Neal Adams as a counterpart to Green Arrow for the third comics incarnation of the Secret Society ("The Society") in Justice League of America #94. He would later become a recurring rogue for Green Arrow himself.
