Marion O'Keefe was an oceanologist.
Doctor O'Keefe worked at the Burnette Marine Research Center, where she studied regeneration in corals. Eli Selig visited the center and spoke with Dr. O'Keefe. She sent him her report called, "Somatic Regeneration in Coral Reef Species". Less than a week later, two inquiries came about her contact with Dr. Selig: Zeta and James Bennet.
She was called in on an emergency when one of the center's submarines had crashed in the reef. Bennet asked her to alert Coast Guard, but they could not get there in time. Instead, Bennet and Zeta went in the second sub. O'Keefe guided their effort from a support vessel on the surface.
