Throughout the DCAU, certain characters have appeared to directly interact with the viewer, or "break the fourth wall". This was usually done in a tongue in cheek manner, but was also used on Static Shock to teach children valuable lessons.

Joker[]

The Joker is notorious both within the DCAU and the comics for breaking the fourth wall.

"Christmas With the Joker"
He appears to look directly at the viewer as he sings his version of Jingle Bells.
Also, throughout the episode as he hosts his TV show, it could be interpreted that the viewer is actually a part of the viewing audience.

"Joker's Favor"
He looks to the viewer after jumping out of the cake, saying "Let's hear it for him, folks!"
Batman: The Animated Series,
"Joker's Wild"
As he escapes Arkham, he shouts "Don't try this at home, kids!"
Batman: The Animated Series,
"The Last Laugh"
On several occasions, he looks at the viewer as he speaks.
The New Batman Adventures,
"Joker's Millions"
When Joker mistakes the IRS man as an auditionee for the Harley position, he looks at the viewer as he comments on how pleased he is with his choice.
Justice League,
"Injustice For All"
He appears to look at the viewer as he pulls out his handgun to kill Batman.
Justice League,
"Wild Cards"
As he is hosting a TV show throughout the episode, it could again be interpreted that the viewer is a part of the viewing audience.

Harley Quinn[]

"Harley's Holiday"
As she holds on to the straw of a billboard cola bottle, she talks directly to the viewer about "going out on a joke".
Gotham Girls,
"Catsitter"
Before the tree branch she is sitting on fully breaks, she briefly looks to the camera as she squeals.
Gotham Girls,
"Gotham Noir"
In the in-story mini-game where the viewer chooses an item for her to use, selecting the joke gun shows her smashing the camera with it.
Selecting the camera in the mini-game shows her taking a picture in the camera's direction.
After she finishes her story, she looks to the camera, saying "See? Anyone can write this stuff!"
