Jonah Hex was an outlaw, and later a bounty hunter in the late 1800s. He is easily identified by the right side of his face being grotesquely scarred, which hides his honorable nature.
History
As a Bounty Hunter
In 1883, Elderly Bounty Hunter Jonah Hex tracked down Ra's al Ghul's son Arkady DuVall to Devil's Hole, Utah.
Hex pursues Duvall on Duvall's zeppelin, "The Phoenix," they face off, Duvall wielding a saber, and Hex a bowie knife. Midway though the furious duel, Hex causes the ship to lose altitude and begins to burn. Ra's escapes the ship in a personal glider, leaving Duvall behind.
The ship crashes, throwing both Hex and Duvall free. Duvall begs for his life, but Hex tells him he has no interest in killing him instead, he'll deliver him alive to the law. After he finds his hat that he lost earlier, Hex remarks ruefully, “I'm gettin' too old for this.”

Alternate Timeline
In 1879, Hex teamed up with several heroes (Bat Lash, El Diablo, and Ohiyesa Smith), including members of the Justice League (Batman, Wonder Woman, and John Stewart) to overthrow Tobias Manning's control of the western American town, Elkhorn. Here it's revealed that Hex had some time travel experience. He recognized the Justice Leaguers as time travelers and had developed a negative opinion of "ray guns".
Background Information
The DCAU's Jonah Hex has apparently had similar future adventures to his comics counterpart as evidenced by his comments on the reliability of "ray guns" in JLU "The Once and Future Thing Part One: Weird Western Tales".
