Static at Independence Monument

Independence Monument was a monument in Accra, Ghana erected to celebrate the nation's independence.

History[]

Following Ghana achieving independence from the British in 1957, the monument was constructed in the capital, Accra. The black star represents African freedom from colonialism.[1]

Background information[]

In the real world, Independence Monument is located in "Black Star Square", otherwise known as "Independence Square". Completed in 1961, the location is the current site for all civic and military parades in Ghana and often hosts celebrations for other national events including an annual independence celebration.

The location was featured on the front cover of the Static Shock: The Complete Third Season DVD release.
