Lois Lane receives her Excalibur Award.
The Excalibur Award was a prestigious journalistic award.
History[]
One evening in Metropolis, the Excalibur Award for Outstanding Investigative Journalism was nominated among four reporters. The nominees were: Patrice Bandi (for her article on illegal drug trafficking), Mike Hart (for his exposé on diet fraud), Julian Frey (for his piece "No Profit Like Non-Profit"), and Lois Lane (for her exposé "Lex-Scam: Nuclear Danger"). Ultimately, Lane won the prize for exposing LexCorp. Her main informant for the article was Edward Lytener, a talented LexCorp scientist who provided her with information about his company's shady deals in the hope that Lois would, in Edward's words, "notice" him. Eventually, Lytener lost his job and reputation while Lois didn't share his feelings for her. In revenge, Lytener orchestrated an attempt on her life while she was giving a speech at the Excalibur ceremony. He installed a laser device that gradually cut the rope holding the symbol of the event, a giant green glass sword. Luckily, Superman managed to cover Lois with his back and foil Lytener's plan.
