Rewrite[]
In light of recent a discussion, this policy may be due for a rewrite and/or clarification. When I originally proposed this policy was to preclude Comics information from being included to fill in gaps in the DCAU. However, the way it is written, it disallows deductions based on facts or common sense, whereas conjecture is defined as assumptions based on inconclusive grounds. Inferring that Killer Frost is a sociopath based on Grodd's claim that she "likes to kill" is not conjecture, but merely semantics. However, the current policy would disallow this because it is an assumption "based on what is seen or said on-screen." This basically gives us no editorial leeway to write articles without resorting to verbatim statements. We have been and should continue to be allowed to interpret facts and draw conclusions based on facts and/or common sense. If in "Hunter's Moon" we learn that there's a Thanagarian resistance, then that's because the Gordanians are winning the war at that moment. There's really no other interpretation. The only issue with conjecture is when we present it as baseless canon information. ― Thailog 08:48, September 2, 2009 (UTC)

The goal of the DC Animated Universe Wiki is to present canonical information of the DCAU shows in a encyclopedic format. Therefore, we disallow fanon and/or material from the DC Comics as a means of filling in gaps or answering unanswered questions. This does not preclude, however, deductions based on canon facts or basic common sense, as long as they are clearly presented as such and never construed as confirmed canon. |
