The Institute, surrounded by protesters
The Chimera Institute (pronounced "shim-err-uh"), directed by Dr. Abel Cuvier, was the source of Gotham City's splicing fad. Early in the fad's life, the building was picketed by angry parents and other, protesting rebels.
"Reborn to be Wild".
While the future of splicing was still up in the air, Cuvier had a violent run-in with Batman, and was forced to go into hiding in Carmine's Taxidermy Studio, abandoning the premises. The institute was shut down after Curvier's death and his henchmen were arrested.
