The Anti-Fusion Device or AFD was an experimental missile system that would inhibit the nuclear fusion process within its radius, preventing nuclear weapons from detonating.
History[]
Unlike other missile defense systems, the AFD did not shoot down enemy missiles. Instead, its objective was to neutralize enemy warhead at the point of detonation, which it accomplishes by creating an exotic type of matter which will inhibit nuclear fusion reactions. It is largely safe if used as intended. During the presentation, a soldier entered the test site, and the display had to be cancelled. It was eventually stolen and repurposed as an offensive weapon by a malign entity in an attempt to extinguish the fusion of the sun, which would lead to the extinction of life on Earth.
